Automation Technology - 3D Vision

3D vision is divided into binocular stereo, structured light and linear laser.

1 Binocular stereo vision

Binocular stereo vision is similar to the two eyes of a person and is more used in the field of car driverless. Binocular stereo vision (Binocular Stereo Vision) is an important form of machine vision, which is based on the principle of parallax and uses imaging equipment to obtain two images of the measured object from different positions, and obtains three-dimensional geometric information of the object by calculating the position deviation between the corresponding points of the image.

Binocular stereo vision integrates the images obtained by the two eyes and observes the differences between them, so that we can obtain a clear sense of depth, establish the correspondence between features, and correspond the image points of the same spatial physical point in different images. This difference is called a disparity image.

Binocular stereo vision measurement method has the advantages of high efficiency, suitable accuracy, simple system structure and low cost, and is very suitable for online and non-contact product inspection and quality control at the manufacturing site. In the measurement of moving objects, including animals and human bodies, stereo vision methods are a more effective measurement method because image acquisition is done instantaneously. Binocular stereo vision system is one of the key technologies of computer vision, and obtaining distance information of spatial three-dimensional scenes is also the most basic content in computer vision research.

2 Structured light

Structured light technology is to use a pattern with a special structure designed in advance (such as discrete spots, striped light, coded structured light, etc.), and then project the pattern onto the surface of a three-dimensional space object, use another camera to observe the distortion of imaging on the three-dimensional physical surface, and obtain the point cloud data of the surface outline of the workpiece. If the patterned light is projected on the surface of the object as a plane, then the pattern of the structured light observed in the imaging is similar to the pattern, without deformation, but with a certain scale change according to the distance. However, if the surface of the object is not flat, then the observed structured light pattern will produce different distortion deformations due to the different geometries of the surface of the object, and according to the different distances, according to the known structured light pattern and the observed deformation, the three-dimensional shape and depth information of the measured object can be calculated according to the algorithm.

3 Line laser

Line laser 3D camera, based on the principle of triangulation, captures the laser line information projected on the surface of the object by the laser generator through the image sensor, and reconstructs the contour information of the surface of the object.
