When you mention industrial robots, you will think of intelligent manufacturing, which always gives people a feeling of being high technology, but do robots really belong to high-end manufacturing?

I was shocked to see a map of the excavator's operating range, which was almost exactly the same as the 6-axis robot's range of action.

The following figure is the excavator operating range diagram:

Is the robot high-end? The technical content may not be as good as the excavator

A picture wakes up the dreamer, the excavator is also a robot, but also walking, more advanced than industrial robots.

According to the definition of a robot, it is clear that the excavator belongs to a 5-axis articulated robot with a walking axis. As early as the era of the steam engine, the excavator has been invented, more than two hundred years have passed, the mechanical structure of the excavator has not changed much, but the driving method has changed from steam to hydraulic. It wasn't until 1959 that the Americans invented industrial robots, more than a hundred years after excavators. There is no doubt that excavators are the originators of industrial robots.

The walking of the excavator and the rotation movement of the joints of each axis are all hydraulically driven, and the difficulty of hydraulic control is far more complicated than the motor, and there is no doubt that manufacturers who can produce excavators are also capable of producing industrial robots.

At this point, it was suddenly found that the robot is not high-end, and its technical content may not be as good as the excavator.
